In open letter, over 2,000 citizens urge CJI to halt SIR, seek probe into ECI
More than 2,000 citizens, including former Navy chief Admiral Vishnu Bhagwat, former Rajya Sabha MP and former Prasar Bharati chairman Jawhar Sircar, economists Jayati Ghosh and several others have written an open letter to Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and other Supreme Court judges, seeking an immediate stay on the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls until its legality and procedure are independently reviewed by the court.
