How FeedAtom reads your reporting, what we keep, what we never do with it, and how to get something removed. If something here is wrong for you, write to [email protected] - we would rather hear from you than from your lawyers, and we act on either.
Who we are
FeedAtom is operated by FeedAtom, contactable at PLACEHOLDER - postal address not yet set. It selects, groups and ranks reporting published by other organisations and sends readers a digest that links back to the original. Our grievance officer is PLACEHOLDER - grievance officer not yet named, at [email protected].
Our crawler
We identify ourselves as WorldBrain/1.0. We read your feeds and pages at a courteous rate, we obey robots.txt, and we never attempt to bypass a paywall, a login or any other access control. If our crawler is causing you load, tell us and we will slow it down or stop.
What we keep
For each article: the URL, the headline, the publication time, the source, the language, and a copy of the page we fetched, which our systems read to work out what is being reported. From that we derive statements about the world and store those with a link back to the article that supports them. We keep a short verbatim extract to show alongside the headline as evidence for what we say the article reports.
We never republish your article
A digest and a story page carry a headline, a short verbatim extract, your name as the source, and a link. We do not send readers the full text of an article, we do not host a readable copy of it, and we do not put our own writing in place of yours. The link is how your reporting gets read, and the number of readers we send you is a figure we track and will share with you on request.
What our machines do, and what they do not
Automated systems choose which articles to show, group the ones covering the same event, rank them, and pick which extract from your article appears. Where we show a story outside its original language, the translation is machine-made and labelled. Every extract we display is your wording, not ours. If you believe an extract misrepresents your reporting, that is a correction we will make - see below.
Getting something removed
Write to [email protected] with the URL or the story, and say whether you want that one item removed or your publication removed entirely. We acknowledge within 24 hours and act within 15 days, usually much sooner, and for a straightforward removal request from a rights holder we do not argue. Removal takes a story out of every digest, feed and page we serve.
Something short of removal
Removal is not the only option, and it is often not the one either of us wants. We can show your items as headline and link only, with no extract; we can drop you from particular topics; we can restrict you to particular countries; or we can record that your material is never to be used for training a model. Tell us which and we will set it. These are settings we hold against your publication, not promises we have to remember.
If you would rather be paid than removed
Write to [email protected]. We record how every source was obtained and what we are permitted to do with it, so a licence with terms attached is something our systems can actually enforce rather than merely file.
The formal routes
Nothing above replaces your legal rights. In India you may serve a notice under the Copyright Rules 2013 or complain to our grievance officer under the Information Technology Rules 2021, at [email protected]. If you are outside India and your own law provides a takedown procedure, send it to [email protected] and we will treat it as we would a local one. We will not use a procedural objection to delay acting on a complaint that is plainly right.
