FeedAtom is free and we intend to keep it that way. Sponsoring is how you help pay for that: it is a gift to the mission, not a purchase.
Who you would be sponsoring
FeedAtom is built and run by FeedAtom. Sponsorship money goes to FeedAtom and is spent on running FeedAtom.
Why the product is free
News that only reaches people who can pay is not much use to anyone. FeedAtom is free to read, with no advertising and no card, and we would rather it stayed free permanently than free until the money runs out.
What sponsoring is
A voluntary contribution, once or every month, that pays to keep the service running. That is the whole of it. You get our thanks, and your name on the supporters list if you want it there.
Sponsoring is not subscribing
A subscription buys you more of the product: more stories in an edition, more delivery channels, a bigger plan. A sponsorship buys you nothing at all and is not a purchase of any service. If you want a bigger plan, take a plan. If you want to support the mission, sponsor it. Neither one implies the other and you may do either, both, or neither.
Where the money goes
Servers and bandwidth, the storage that holds the evidence behind each story, the models that read and summarise the news, and the mail and messaging that carry your edition. None of it is spent on advertising.
What sponsoring does not buy
It does not buy coverage, placement, ranking, or any say in what FeedAtom reports. No sponsor sees a story before it is published and no sponsor may ask for one to be changed or removed. If we are ever asked to trade that away, we will refuse the money instead.
How to sponsor
Write to [email protected] and say how you would like to give. Card and UPI payments open the moment our payment provider activates the account; until then we arrange it directly with you. We will tell you plainly which of those two is true on the day you write.
Receipts and tax
Every sponsorship gets a receipt from FeedAtom showing the amount, the date, and what it was for. FeedAtom is not a registered charity, so a sponsorship is not a tax-deductible donation in India or anywhere else. We would rather say that plainly than let you assume otherwise.
Changing your mind
A recurring sponsorship can be stopped whenever you like and the next payment simply does not happen. A payment made by mistake is refunded in full if you write to [email protected] within 7 days of it. The refund and cancellation policy carries the detail.
